Kent’s first love is jazz but he is also well versed in standards, Latin, pop and classical music. He is an excellent choice as a single piano performer. Kent is also an accomplished vocal accompanist. He knows how to make a singer shine.
Kent’s ability to play a bass keyboard with the piano creates a fuller and more rhythmic sound when playing as a single or accompanying a vocalist. Kent can provide a duo, trio, or larger group as the venue requires. He has worked with many of the area’s best musicians and will produce the ideal combination for any occasion.
Kent works regularly at many venues in the area including Soho Food and Jazz, The Kitchen, Stoney’s Wine Lounge and Free Man Cajun Café in addition to being in demand for private parties and corporate gigs.

Kent Ellingson has been active in the Dallas/Ft. Worth music scene since arriving to the area in the early 1980’s. He graduated with a master’s in Music from University of North Texas in 1983. Kent is the jazz piano instructor for Collin County Community College in Plano and is a performing member with the faculty jazz group. Kent has appeared in concert with such jazz greats as Clark Terry, Randy Brecker, Bob Mincer, Greg Bissonett, Chris Vadala, Kevin Mahogany, and others. Kent is the music director of the Booker T. Washington High School for the performing and visual arts. He is also the music director for the Cathedral of Light Church in Carrollton, where he has been involved musically since 1991.
