John Adams/Bass – Adams holds Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from the University of North Texas, where for ten years he was the jazz bass instructor. He is also active as producer, arranger, composer, music contractor, and workshop clinician. Through his “Bassistonline.com” website, John provides bass parts for recording clients ranging across the US, as well as internationally in UK, India, Australia, China, Singapore, Turkey, Canada, Greece and others. He has backed a wide array of artists such as Mel Torme, Rosemary Clooney, Phil Driscoll, Wayne Watson, Woody Herman, Randy Brecker, Marvin Stamm, Joe McBride, Bobby Lyle, Carl Fontana, Chet Baker, Clark Terry, Dave Liebman, and others. His broad musical background has also included symphonic and musical theater work. Through his independent Congruent Music label, Adams has released eight highly acclaimed and widely varied CD projects, including “John and Mark’s Excellent Rock Adventure,” which includes unique instructional/play-along tools. Adams’ jazz releases have received radio airplay on hundreds of stations nationwide, and on various online radio formats. Each of these projects displays different styles and influences, varied instrumentations, stunning arrangements and compositions, and a compelling musical rapport.
Noel Johnston/Guitar – Producer, composer and educator, Noel has become one of the Dallas-area’s most active and widely recorded musicians. He has performed and/or recorded with artists such as Dweezle Zappa, Alex Acuna, Joey Baron, Ignacio Berroa, Vinnie Colaiuta, Wayne Delano, Sheila E., Dan Haerle, Fred Hamilton, Pete LaRoca, Dave Liebman, Joe Lovano, Monica Mancini, Adam Nussbaum, The One O’Clock Lab Band, Lynn Seaton, Ed Soph, Paul Tynan, Bill Watrous, Gary Willis, and Kenny Wheeler. Noel is currently on faculty as a Jazz Guitar instructor at the University of North Texas. He holds a Bachelor of Music in Studio/Jazz Guitar from the University of Southern California and a Master of Music in Jazz Studies from the University of North Texas. He has previously served on the faculty at Wesley Institute for Ministry & the Arts in Sydney, Australia, and at Grayson County College in Denison, TX. In addition to his post as adjunct instructor of jazz guitar and The University of North Texas, Mr. Johnson also owns and operates the highly successful Lonestar Academy, a multi-faceted music instruction facility in Flower Mound, TX. Rounding out his weekly activities, Noel Johnston also performs in the live studio band for the Daystar (Christian) TV network.
Eric Willis/Keyboards – Eric is one of the most sought-after composer/arrangers and keyboardists in the DFW-region and nationally. He is an alumni of the 77th Army Band, and Southern University in Baton Rouge (where he studied with the legendary Alvin Battiste). As an active freelance musician, Mr. Willis has performed with dozens of the top performers based in Texas, as well as touring nationally with jazz and R & B artists Kirk Whalum, Roy Hargrove, Gerald Albright, Les McCann, Tom Braxton, Angela Bofill, Melba Moore, Waymon Tisdale, and many others. Eric is also much sought after in scared music, holding music posts at Park Cities Baptist Church, Highland Park UMC, Chase Oaks Church and others. For the past several years he has also been producing works as an author, and is a clinician and presenter. Among Eric Willis’ many musical traits is an exuberant stage presence, merged with dazzling technique and musical sensitivity.
Matt Young/Drums – Matt Young is a multi-award winning drummer, composer, creator, and educator/clinician. Matt spent his formative years growing up in Marietta, GA, a town just outside of Atlanta. Atlanta’s vibrant music scene turned Matt’s love of music into a life-long path of discovery. He furthered his studies with Ed Soph at the University of North Texas, where also had the honor of performing in the famed One O’Clock Lab Band. Upon arriving at The University of North Texas, Matt was also asked to join Grammy-Winning Artist Bob Belden’s, Animation. Animation released two acclaimed recordings, featuring artists Tim Hagans, Bill Laswell and Kurt Elling. In 2010, Matt was the winner of the Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC) Drum Set Competition in the idiom of Jazz. In the Summer of 2014, Matt was invited to be a part of the Ravinia Stearns Music Institute for Jazz in Chicago where he studied composition and performed original music with a select group of students from around the world. In the Spring of 2015, Matt was a participant of Betty Carter’s “Jazz Ahead 2015” residency program, where he worked with a high-profile faculty of jazz stars at The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. Matt has performed at major festivals around the world including in Iran, Spain, UK, Canada, Mexico, Japan, and all around the US. In January of 2017, Matt released his debut solo record entitled, Headspace, on which he played all the instruments, recorded, programmed, and mixed all of the music. Matt Young also co-leads an amazing jazz trio “The AMP Trio” with two of his most frequent collaborators, Addison Frei and Perrin Grace, which has released three recording projects.
