Javier Gutierrez has been performing and teaching single reeds in the Dallas-Fort Worth area since 1995. He graduated from St. Leo University with a B.A. in Music Performance. He taught at the Armed Forces School of Music in Virginia and in Europe with the USAEUR Band after which he retired and taught music for Dallas ISD.

Currently, he performs locally with various groups including Mosaic, Salsero, and the Mesquite Jazz Repertoire Ensemble.
