The Outer Circles is an instrumental group composed of musicians living and playing music in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex.
Our repertoire includes a variety of styles of jazz, including a) jazz standards made famous by Louis Armstrong, Miles Davis and Thelonious Monk and b) tunes made famous by jazz piano players like Ramsey Lewis, Professor Longhair, Ahmad Jamal, Ray Charles or Herbie Hancock. We do funk tunes by the Meters and the Jazz Crusaders. We also play versions of familiar R&B tunes like Ain’t No Sunshine When She’s Gone and I Heard It Through the Grapevine. We play a variety of Latin jazz and Bossa Nova tunes, including songs by composers such as Carlos Santana and Antônio Carlos Jobim. We do our versions of rock n roll, reggae or New Orleans classics like Norwegian Wood and Yesterday (Beatles), On Broadway (George Benson), I Shot the Sheriff, Redemption Song (Bob Marley) and Sissy Strut (Meters).
Of course, we also do some original tunes.
